American Wheat for the Summer Heat

4 Apr

Before the 1st of April, the Summer seasonal beers slowly started pouring into the marketplace. There will be a lot of wonderful craft offerings to be had this Summer, but these are some very notable thirst quenching brews that you may or may not already know about…

Breckenridge SummerBright Ale is said to be the perfect ale for summertime quaffing. The craftsman’s touch combines white wheat, two row pale and Munich malt with the Pacific Northwest’s most intriguing hops to create a bright, clean ale ideal for picnicking, evenings on the screen porch and enjoying the whims of the summer breeze. – 4.5% abv. (Draft & 4/6pks)

Anchor Summer Beer was the first American wheat beer in modern times. Anchor’s first brew of this light and refreshing beer was in the summer of 1984. Anchor Summer is an all-malt beer, and over 50% of its malt comes from malted wheat. It is fermented with traditional top-fermenting “ale” yeast because they prefer the clean flavors developed by this yeast. The wheatmalt contributes to an unusual lightness and dryness to the palate, and this, combined with the distinctive flavor of the wheat, makes for a perfect thirst-quenching beverage. – 4.5% abv. (Draft & 4/6pks)

Boulder Beer composed a tasteful Summer brew for their 10th release of their Looking Glass Series; Kinda Blue Blueberry Wheat Beer. American wheat placed in perfect measure with muted tones of blueberry; where subtlety and accent adds to the depth, not overwhelm overall character. –  5.5% abv. (Draft & 4/6pks)

Some Fantastic Winter & Holiday Beers!

17 Dec

The BKT is sorry for the hiatus on postings.  The holiday season in the Craft Beer world is undoubtedly a wild one!  So many really great beers are rolling in and out of the marketplace this time of year that there is just not enough occasion to update on all of them. Our apologies!

A touch tone on a couple fantastic Winter &  Holiday beers that are currently NEW to the Central FL marketplace:

Bell’s Winter White Ale offers a lighter, yet abundantly flavorful alternative to the traditional heavy winter warmers. Fermented with a Belgian ale yeast, this blend of barley & wheat malts yields a mixture of clove and fruity aromas, all without the use of any spices. Deliberately brewed to retain a cloudy appearance, Bell’s Winter White Ale is a beer for embracing winter.” 4.5% ABV

Breckenridge Christmas Ale is an American Strong Ale released just in time for the holidays.  At over 7% alcohol with a sturdy texture and rich flavors of caramel and chocolate, this holiday seasonal is the fermented equivalent of a good fire. The ultimate winter warmer.” 7.4% ABV

Sierra Nevada Brewers Reserve GRAND CRU is the fourth & final installment of the Sierra Nevada 30th Anniversary series of special release beers. Brewers Reserve is a special ale highlighting Sierra Nevada’s pioneering history and the innovative spirit that has carried them through 30 years. It is a marriage of their three most acclaimed ales: Oak-aged Bigfoot, Celebration Ale, and fresh Pale Ale blended together and generously dry-hopped.” 9.2% ABV
